Today’s post is the second in my Made You Luxe series, where I bring you the best designer-inspired items on the high street. So far I only own the first item, but girl tempted to go shopping…

Colette Malouf-Inspired Ring
I’m a stickler for anything that’s a little bit different, and this rings true (get it?) when it comes to my taste in jewellery. One of my favourite pieces is a dainty gold necklace with a charm of a tiny stick man sitting on the chain, and before that, my favourite was a Pilgrim necklace gifted to me on my 13th birthday of a winged-Elvis lookalike. Sounds weird, but it was just the right amount of unusual: a subtle statement and conversation starter. I favour fine gold jewellery, but became so fixated with this Colette Malouf ring you could say it had me wrapped around its finger (sorry, also a stickler for puns)!
Put Up Your Pom Poms
In case you’ve been living under a rock, pom poms are in right now. I suspect it all started with the birth of Fendi’s Bag Boy Karlito, the super-cute, super-expensive (£1100!) bag charm, beloved of models and celebrities alike. Now the high street is getting in on the act, with more modestly-priced versions gracing the shelves. Since I had some pom poms left over from a previous DIY (more on which later), I wanted to create my own take on the bag charm. Unlike most stores, which are championing the single, large pom pom, I used two smaller-sized pom poms for balance and movement.
This tutorial is perfect for the time-starved – it only took me 15 minutes to create!
Dolce and Gabbana-Inspired Stockings
When any design house uses embellishment in every collection, they become a firm Magpie favourite. Enter Dolce and Gabbana. The Italian designers are known for their heavy embroidery and beadwork, cementing their status as one of the world’s most luxurious brands. Of course, luxury invites elitism; in order to own a piece of D&G perfection, one must possess a hefty fortune. As it happens, I do not, so when I saw these Vally pumps grace the runway, I knew they would be perfect DIY fodder. Read through to discover how to add a high-end piece to your high-street wardrobe…
Smith+Mara-Inspired Suspender
As I suspect most people do, I have an ultimate wishlist. This consists of dream items that would require months, if not years, of saving for. You know the sort: the perfect Burberry trench coat or a pair of Valentino Rockstuds. Currently, I have two things on my wishlist: a French bulldog (please, please, PLEASE) and a Smith+Mara suspender. I knew I wanted to have a go at making one myself, and trialled many ideas, but none seemed to work. That was until I found these.
This tutorial is a little fiddly due to the delicate nature of the jewellery, but so worth it. Continue reading
